| Program Information
The therapy program at Lovelane is organized in two "semesters" and a summer session similar to the school year. Fall Semester: September - January Lessons are generally half-an-hour once a week. Spring and Fall semesters are usually 19 or 20 weeks and the summer session is usually 7 weeks. We occasionally offer other options such as a three or four half-day "intensive" during the summer or school break weeks. Our program is focused on individual, one-on-one therapy. Small group sessions are offered on a limited basis to those students whose therapy is enhanced by the small group dynamic and to those students who have "graduated" from the basic therapy program. Program Enrollment The first step to enrolling in the Lovelane program is to submit an application. After submitting your application, you will receive acknowledgement that it has been received. When an opening is available, applicants are contacted in the order in which the applications are received. After you are contacted about an available opening, additional forms will be sent. Before a student can be accepted into the program, Lovelane must receive a completed physician's referral and therapist assessment. Waiting List As with most therapeutic riding programs in our area, Lovelane currently has a lengthy waiting list. If you are considering a therapeutic riding program, we encourage you to submit an application so that we can put your name on the list. You may also want to check with other programs in the area. The best way to find other programs is to contact the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (www. NARHA.org). Because most students tend to stay in the program for several years once they begin riding, the turn-over rate is low. Therefore, the wait for an opening can be long. When there is an opening for a new student, families will be contacted in the order in which the applications were received until an applicant is found who is available to fill the open slot. This might be the first applicant on the list, or it might be the ninety-ninth. Occasionally, we will make exceptions to the wait-list order for an applicant with a terminal illness. Program Fees The Standard Rate is $98 per lesson, which is significantly less than the actual cost of providing each lesson. Tuition Assistance Therapeutic horseback riding is very expensive, so to ensure economic access to all, Lovelane provides Tuition Assistance to families not able to pay the Standard Rate. The Tuition Assistance provided is based on the family’s ability to pay and the availability of funding. |
