Susan McDaniel Run For Love

On June 14th over 350 runners and countless other spectators came out in the rain to help make the 2009 Susan McDaniel Run for Love the largest race day in its history.  Runners were joined by Enza Sambataro, wife of Red Sox first baseman, Kevin Youkilis whose foundation Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids supported the run with a $50,000 match.  With the help of the match and the efforts of participants who solicited pledges and gave gifts the event raised over $110, 000 for Lovelane.

The clouds parted and the skies cleared long enough for toddlers and kids to complete the Diaper Dash and Kids Fun Run, respectively and for our 5K participants to receive a good luck phone call from Kevin Youkilis just before the race gun sounded.  World triathlete, Karen Smyers presented the race winners in the six categories with prizes donated by our corporate sponsors Boston Sports Clubs, Fast Splits, Greater Boston Running Company, Marathon Sports, and Saucony.  Runners were also provided with pre and post race support from the experts at Saucony who brought their pacing van and Owater who kept the runners hydrated.

Blue Ribbon BBQ brought some sunshine to the day by serving homemade lemonade and providing megaphones to cheer the runners along.  They also supported the Run for Love by donating 5% of all individual, in store purchases and 10% of all catering orders placed by Lovelane supporters in the 2 months prior to the race.
