The Echo Fund
Consider making a contribution in memory of Orcland Supreme Echo.
Many of you may remember Elsie Rodney’s beloved Morgan, Echo. Sadly, Echo was put to rest on October 21st, 2009.
When learning of his death, the first question his friends asked was “what can we do?” The Goodwin family, Elsie’s first students proposed the creation of “The Echo Fund” at Lovelane. This fund is designated to provide support for Lovelane’s 12 therapeutic horses and defray the significant expenses associated with their care. A number of Elsie’s friends and family have already joined the Goodwin’s in launching this memorial fund in honor of Echo and his owner.
Echo was the epitome of all that we love about horses. He was handsome, spirited, generous and kind. His life was a journey full of versatility and accomplishment. Echo was a celebrated winner in regional and local competitions. He was most renowned for winning the Grand National World Championship in single horse carriage driving with Elsie.
Astonishingly, his great heart and enduring patience also made him a perfect therapy horse. Echo continued to excel in competition while simultaneously working as a therapeutic riding horse with special needs children at Lovelane. Echo served the children of Lovelane with poise and tenderness, teaching all of us the meaning of unselfish service.
Echo exemplified the legendary loyal, reliable and tireless spirit of the Morgan horse. In his thirty years, he touched the lives of many people. Your support of Lovelane’s newly established Echo Fund, will serve as his legacy to the horses who are the backbone of our program. We remain grateful to Echo and to Elsie for giving us so many years of outstanding and irreplaceable service.
