Lovelane therapy horses must:

• Be able to be used in 30 minute lessons up to 3 times daily (up to 6 days per week)
• Be able to be handled by multiple instructors and volunteers on a daily basis
• Tolerate up to 2 side walkers 1 leader and an instructor
• Tolerate unsteady riders
• Tolerate the use of toys and games by rider and side walkers
• Be safely able to be groomed and tacked on cross ties
• Accommodate independent riders and leading lessons
• Be able to be ridden in indoor with mirrors, outdoor and on trials
• Walk, trot and canter with beginner riders
• Be actively in work
• Be between the ages of 10 and 18 years old (exceptions may be made for older horses if current owner will provide a “forever home”)
In addition:
• We can not take any horses that crib
• We can not take any horses that have impaired vision
• We have small sand paddocks with individual turn out
• We require up to a 2 month trial period to determine if the horse is suitable and happy in our programs
If you have a horse that you are interested in donating (or selling) to Lovelane and you feel your horse meets these requirements, please contact Julie at 781-259-1177 x31 or Julie@lovelane.org .
Thank you!
