Lovelane is a privately-funded, charitable, 501(c)3, non-profit organization. We rely significantly on donations from caring individuals, foundations, and corporations to support our programs and to meet our operating costs. In fact, donations and grants make up 57% of the operating budget. We receive no government funding. Most parents pay for the lessons directly as insurance coverage for therapeutic horseback riding is very limited. More than half of the annual budget is met through the generosity of donors.
Therapeutic horseback riding is a proven, yet costly, form of therapy. But, only 40% of the families who participate in our program can afford the total cost of our intensive, individualized therapy. Most receive some level of subsidy in order to ride on a regular basis.
At Lovelane we believe in abilities…believe with us and support Lovelane with your donation.
Making a Donation
Lovelane is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization. We rely on grants, fundraising events, individual and corporate donations, and tuition to meet our operating costs. We receive no government funding. Most parents pay for the lessons directly as insurance coverage for therapeutic horseback riding is very limited. More than half of the annual budget is met through the generosity of donors. Over 130 volunteers are needed to assist with therapy sessions as well as the maintenance and operation of the riding facilities. Also, volunteers and parents of riders help organize and run several fund raising events each year to benefit Lovelane.

Ways That Your Donation Makes a Difference
Tuition Assistance
Because therapeutic horseback riding is so expensive and there is little reimbursement or insurance coverage available, Lovelane provides tuition assistance to approximately 60% of the families in the program. The majority of funding for this is provided by donations to Lovelane.
Program Equipment
Providing a therapeutic riding session is expensive. In addition to the cost of maintaining the program facilities and paying the professional certified therapeutic riding instructors, there is a lot of costly equipment. For example, a saddle costs $800 - $1,000; a riding surcingle, $400; safety stirrups, $50; safety helmets, $90. Adaptive riding equipment is expensive, and few riders can participate without some adaptive aids.
Horses
Horses are expensive, and so is their upkeep. Lovelane spends more than $100,000 a year feeding and caring for our horses. The number of horses we maintain fluctuates, but our facility is designed to accommodate up to twelve horses. In addition to the ongoing hay, feed, vitamins, vet and farrier services for our existing stable, we incur annual expenses related to horse turn-over and the acquisition and leasing of new horses. Needless to say, we have some very special horses.
